JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – On Wednesday, a Flora girl pled responsible to finishing up a scheme to defraud the COVID-19 Paycheck Safety Program (PPP).
Based on courtroom paperwork, 34-year-old Tarshuana Thomas fraudulently utilized for 2 PPP loans. She claimed to be the only proprietor of a canine breeding and sitting service. From these fraudulently obtained funds, Thomas obtained $12,586, which she spent on private, non-business associated bills.
Thomas was employed as a Correctional Officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Advanced (FCC) Yazoo Metropolis when she utilized for the loans.
Thomas is scheduled to be sentenced on February 16, 2023, and faces a most penalty of 20 years in jail.
