JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Metropolis of Jackson is cracking down on blighted and rundown properties.
Residents can now report constructing code violations on the town’s web site, jacksonms.gov.
“We’re making an attempt to make code enforcement within the metropolis of Jackson extra clear,” stated Robert Brunson, Neighborhood Enchancment Supervisor.
The choice will enable these in Jackson to report overgrown, dilapidated, or unsafe properties to on to the town and observe the progress or reported violations. Jackson Neighborhood Enchancment officers stated blighted properties are a rising downside within the metropolis. The town has acquired greater than 30 complaints since October 1.
“Generally, folks stroll away from a home for various causes. Some homes should not owned by individuals who reside right here. Some are owned by firms or LLC’s who give no consideration to repair the home,” stated Brunson.
Neighborhood Enchancment Supervisor Samantha Graves stated, “South Jackson, West Jackson and Northwest Jackson, relying on the road are in main code violations.”
The web site may also enable residents to see the variety of complaints as property has acquired and the actions being taken to carry the property as much as code. Supervisors stated they hope the web site can be a hit.
“I hope to see lots of people use it. The extra they use it, the extra stories, the extra it’ll profit us,” stated Graves.
