Mushrooms are ample,
spiderwebs glisten with raindrop jewels.
I’m blessed with a Quaker pal,
guardian of the forest,
who patiently and delightedly walks with me
uphill within the moist leaf mulch,
among the many bushes,
from grave to grave.
These are the burial websites of the self-determined few,
those who discover the precise bush, the precise tree,
taking time to heat to the selected spot
years earlier than they go.
How life continues right here,
the way it goes on!
A potter’s grave, trimmed with pot-lids of all colours.
A painter’s grave, joyful to relaxation in magnificence forever.
A author’s grave, poems etched within the marker stone.
I sit on the stone hearth circle
because the sunbeams shine by way of the leaves.
A sacred floor, a blessed place,
made from you and me,
made from all of us.
Ready on the Meals Truck 10/13/22
It’s a half-day of college,
and the bright-eyed kids on the trailer park
are all over the place.
Two women, virtually teenagers,
spontaneously break into a protracted sport of tag,
laughing, shrieking, dodging, weaving,
uphill and down, between the rickety trailers.
It’s Meals Truck day!
The kids collect, because the colourful truck
pulls up and opens its doorways.
Hand after hand, chattering Spanglish,

It’s a celebration! Children of all ages,
mothers carrying infants,
critical younger boys carrying chairs, serving lemonade.

blustery, gusty
