Coming off the Greens’ best-ever federal election, the Victorian arm was bursting with constructive power at its get together launch in Melbourne.
Perry’s: A Refreshment Membership, an immaculate little venue in Collingwood with uncovered brick and old-school carpeting, is the host of the Victorian Greens’ election launch and is as “house floor” as they might hope for. It is surrounded by cafes known as issues like “Pal of the Earth”, sustainable wine bars, and fairly a couple of posters for its Richmond candidate Gabrielle de Vietri.
The loos make no reference to gender, merely detailing that one has a urinal and one does not, and the meals — sprawls of Instagram-ready charcuterie — seems to be as if it will essentially undermine my journalistic neutrality if I attempted any. The group is a melange of multi-coloured glasses frames, side-shaved haircuts, and woolly jackets with scarves and attachments that defy physics.
