My title is Nick Bresso. I reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, which is simply north of Detroit. My backyard is in Zone 6a. We moved to our dwelling 4 years in the past and began with a clean slate for the backyard.
Fothergilla gardenii (Zones 5–8) placed on a powerful present of fall foliage, surrounded by liriope (Liriope spicata, Zones 4–10). That is my favourite view from the bed room window.

Hosta ‘June’ (Zones 2–9) and ‘Summer season Gold’ variegated dogwood (Cornus kousa ‘Summer season Gold’, Zones 4–8) swap colours within the fall. Throughout the summer season, the dogwood has inexperienced leaves edged with yellow, and the hosta has inexperienced leaves with gold facilities. As you may see, within the fall the dogwood turns crimson and white, and the hosta turns gold and white.
I like Japanese maples, however this ‘Autumn Moon’ number of full-moon maple (Acer shirasawanum ‘Autumn Moon’, Zones 5–8) has my favourite fall colours.
Yews (Taxus spp.), boxwoods (Buxus spp.), and arborvitae (Thuja spp.) are the core of my backyard, with a ‘Bihou’ Japanese maple (Acer palmatum ‘Bihou’, Zones 5–9) including some colour.
