UN nuclear chief denounces strikes on Ukraine energy plant

The UN’s atomic watchdog chief on Sunday denounced “focused” strikes at Ukraine’s Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, calling for a “cease to this insanity”, as Kyiv and Moscow traded blame.

Ukraine in the meantime dismissed Russian accusations that it had executed surrendering troopers.

“The information from our crew yesterday and this morning is extraordinarily disturbing,” stated an announcement Sunday from Rafael Grossi, head of the Worldwide Atomic Vitality Company.

“Explosions occurred on the website of this main nuclear energy plant, which is totally unacceptable.
